I am super excited to start 2019 with my new project that allows me to combine;
- personal development
- outdoor adventure
The project is about my personal journey to becoming a better photographer but also to improving myself as well.
Don’t forget the tip of the week, later on in the post…
Here’s how it will work…
Each week I will post a picture and explain the story about how I captured it and invite your [constructive!] criticism. I will also explain the challenges that I have encountered and how I overcome them with a weekly tip on your own personal development.
I will be passing on what I have learnt and have already started a YouTube channel that goes into a bit more depth on what the project is all about.
I want my images to evoke emotion, inspire and make people want to get outdoors.
Honest, Its not about the gear!
I have had a camera since I was about seven and have always taken the odd snapshot but never really taken it to the next level.
I want my images to be worthy of hanging on my wall, other peoples wall or even a gallery
I know what an f-stop is and also ISO and shutter speed so I’m not starting from scratch but up until now my images have been mediocre – average.
As far as gear is concerned I have a DSLR (a Nikon D5100) and a few lenses, you can see some more in depth chat about my gear on my YouTube channel here
I have also placed a condition on myself that I AM NOT ALLOWED TO BUY ANY MORE GEAR
Lets get clicking…
So, January is all about getting started, taking some pictures and setting my ground rules.
I’m starting with landscapes and then exploring outdoor environmental portraits and action/adventure.
Watch out for my first location shoot in the coming weeks …
Tip of the week…
Do something this week that takes you out of your comfort zone, if you are struggling then try taking a cold shower, it works on so many levels both physiologically and psychologically. You only need do it for 30 seconds, TRY IT!
